Mourinho pulls rank on Pogba in ‘heated’ meeting

Paul Pogba and Mourinho
Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba are sad to have had a heated showdown at Manchester United’s training ground after the midfielder approached the boss over the team’s tactics and his role in the team.
Pogba was left out of Mourinho’s XI for the Champions League last-16 clash with Sevilla this week, which has prompted reports of a rift between the manager and his record signing.
The omission in Spain followed a run of poor form from Pogba, who also called in sick on the morning of United’s FA Cup trip to Huddersfield last weekend.
According to The Sun, Pogba went to see Mourinho in his office at Carrington but left the meeting having been reminded who holds the power at Old Trafford.
Neil Custis’s story says “Pogba had spoken to the Special One about the players’ unhappiness over tactics and  his own  issues with the position he was being played in”.
Mourinho is said to have responded by telling Pogba that he had been going through the motions lately before instructing the midfielder to check the sign on the door on his way out.
The Daily Mail also claims “the Frenchman believes he has been harshly treated by Mourinho and wants to feel valued again”.
Reports on Thursday suggested Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, had already begun sounding out Europe’s top clubs to see what interest there may be in the midfielder this summer.
