DenG Reveals the Hidden Message in His Song "Kemah"

Berenice Mulubah | October 6, 2015 DenG       Liberian singer and songwriter DenG talks about the hidden message in his song Kemah.   DenG: The inspiration of this song came from a popular Liberian saying, "You fecee (useless) like Kemah."  The name Kemah has been used in a demeaning way over the years, because of the lack of knowledge.  If most knew the meaning of Kemah, they won't use it in those terms.  Kemah is vai name.  Actually, it is more of a position than a name, it's the name given to the female student leader of society bush. She's the one with the commanding attitude.  She has the ability to lead and inspire her peers.  She is far from being fecee.   In the song Kemah, I empowered the name for what it is.  Kemah is exceptional, she's a leader, she's special and she should be treated as such.  There are many Liberian women with the characteristics of  Kemah, but are not respected as they...
