Photos: Thai woman 'tricked' into carrying cocaine by Nigerian boyfriend sentenced to life imprisonment

A Cambodia court has sentenced a 22-year-old Thai woman to life imprisonment for trafficking 2.5 kilogrammes of cocaine from the United Arab Emirates. Amphawan Kaewkanlaya claimed she was tricked into carrying the drugs by her Nigerian boyfriend's older brother. She was also fined 60 million riel (about 535,000 baht). Police found packages of cocaine, totaling 2.5kg, hidden in boxes of Lindt chocolates in her luggage. "The court has decided to give her a life sentence and a fine of 60 million riel to be put in the national budget," Phnom Penh Municipal Court presiding judge Heng Kessaror said in passing judgement on Thursday, January 5th. "The court orders the confiscation of the drugs seized and other drug-related material to be destroyed," he added. Amphawan said she would appeal the judgement and maintained she was innocent. During her trial last month she said she was unaware the package she accepted from her boyfriend’s brother

Liberian music industry: Musicians Need Smart Marketing Specialist - This is why

29 January 2017 / Berenice Mulubah  Quincy B "Being on Facebook is not all to it," is a popular saying we get from most Liberian musicians. Guess what? They are definitely right.  There is more to a music career than social media, but social media is also a major factor.  Like it or not, social media matters a lot.  There is more to a social media campaign than posting a picture and video everyday. Who do you want to see your post? What time are those people on the Internet? Are they in college or working adults with families? Which type of post garners the most attention? These are questions that have to be answered when you are navigating social media, and a social media strategist is the person you need to answer them. Let them take the pressure off of you and work with your publicist to handle the day to day posting of pictures, videos and trending memes. Trust me, having someone in your corner that knows what's going on behind the screens of your fa

My name is Nyae Slanger.  I was born and raised in Pennsylvania .  My parents are originally from Grand Gebeh, Liberia, West Africa.  I have been rapping, singing and writing since 8yrs old. I have a BA in political science, but music is my passion. When did you first discover your passion for hip-hop? I grew up listening to hip-hop, my friends grew up listening to hip hop.  I got hooked on Lauren Hill, Jay Z, Biggie Small and the rest of them. I had no choice but to fall in love with hip hop. Why did you choose hip hop to express yourself?   I grew up in a neighborhood full of drug addicts and drug dealers.  When I write, I write about what's happening around me. I just felt like hip hop was right for me and what I easily connected to.  Although hip hop is my

How Possible 800 Liberian Police Officers Died in Line of Duty?

Law enforcement is not on my resume, but the leading newspaper, FrontPageAfrica carried on January 19, 2017 the following headline: "Liberia National Police Memorialize 800 Fallen Officers," obviously, the headline is bound to get your attention. Thus, this inquiring mind about the 800 Police officers, who they were, how and when did they die since the story did these address these concerns. I then went on to reach out to current and former Police officers and others in the law enforcement business in Liberia. Luckily, I came across a veteran of the law enforcement industry who headed both the former Special Security Services (SSS) responsible for presidential protection and later as Director of the Liberia National Police (LNP). But for the purpose of this article, he asked to conceal his identity. With his vast considerable wealth of knowledge, experience and first hand history of the Police, my first question to him: how possible is it that 800 Police o

An advert about a 'Free White men Party in Kenya', scheduled to take place at the Serena Hotel on February 15 and 16 is causing an uproar on social media. Earlier Wednesday the management of Serena Hotel in Nairobi took to their Facebook page to deny that the party is scheduled to take place at their premises. 'It has come to our attention that Serena Hotels ‘s brand is being used by some people purporting to be affiliated to or claiming to host events at Nairobi Serena Hotel. These schemes are engineered to fleece Kenyans of their hard earned money. Please be informed that Nairobi Serena Hotel has no association whatsoever with such individuals/gro

Child Support Walahala: Sherri Shepherd might get screw

26 January 2017 / Berenice Mulubah Sherri Shepherd and Lamar Sally  Sherri Shepherd might have just made a big mistake over the holidays.  Sherri's ex-hubby, Lamar Sally , has been trying for months to move their child support case from NJ to CA where he'd get a way bigger check. She insists the case should be heard in New Jersey because that's where she lives, but sent an Xmas card to friends and fam last month saying she's already moved to L.A. Lamar's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, is all over it.   Sherri is trying to minimize the screw up by putting Lamar's online dating profile on blast ... a profile in which he brags he makes a lot of money -- between $75k and $100k a year. Mehn.  What a mess?

The country’s Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed issued the order in a statement.
