Linda Ikeji Linda Ikeji has made no secret of her immense wealth, from her N500 million mansion to her N40 million SUV. However, it seems the tax man has not been getting his cut, if recent reports are anything to believe. According to online media publication, The Capital, Linda has amassed a tax bill of N75 million and is unwilling to pay up. A “source” in the Federal Inland Revenue Service was quoted to have revealed that the celebrity blogger had for some time, been evading tax payment. The media outlet reports that the blogger has now been mandated by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to pay the money into the agency’s coffers. Three Australians among group of mine workers kidnapped in Nigeria

Three Australians and one New Zealander are among a group of mine workers kidnapped by gunmen during a deadly attack in Nigeria . The Australian prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull, confirmed the men, who are believed to have been working for Perth-based mining company Macmahon Holdings, had been captured near Calabar in Nigeria’s south. The families of those taken have been notified and the Australian high commissioner is at the scene, he said. “We don’t know at this stage the identity of the kidnappers,” Turnbull told reporters while campaigning in Geelong. Turnbull said three of the kidnapped men were Australian and the fourth a New Zealand citizen who had Australian residency. Their local driver was killed during the attack on the group’s vehicle. Another Nigerian and one South African were also reportedly kidnapped. Irene Ugbo, a spokeswoman for Cross River state police, earlier said two expatriates managed to flee, adding that she did not know the nationality of

Eclipsed: A Horrible Job Telling Liberian Women Story

Danai Gurira 5 African women, including the much-celebrated Lupita Nyongo , commanded the stage at the Golden Theater on Broadway as they have for the past many weeks. Their final moving performance will transport the audience to the makeshift camps and traumatized villages and towns of Liberia, where civil war spilled into homes and destroyed the lives of thousands of civilians. Oh, what a heartbreaking story to share with the world? It would have been even better if there was an effort made to know the Liberian woman.  The Liberian accent is what makes us so unique, so special and so original.  A Liberian story without the Liberian accent is just tacky and lazy.   Dear Danai Gurira I am not knocking your hustle girl, do you and make that money. You are about to make millions from telling the Liberian women story your way in Eclipsed. Girl, the least you could have done was to make an effort in getting the accent right. You guys made zero effort. That's a sha

Friday the Cellphone Man’s new album is simply a disappointment

Friday the Cellphone Man Friday the Cellphone Man has traditional weight, but failed to make the most of it.   After  promising a strong come back, the traditional singer has followed up with a project that exudes mediocrity. Almost every song is lyrically weak, and while the overall effort isn’t bad, it’s one that is certainly disappointing. It’s disappointing because listeners were promised an album that would remind them of why they felt in love with the singer in the first place. Instead, we received an album full of comical lyrics with less of his dialect.  The music overall lacks potency. It’s also worth mentioning, though, that there are two great songs on this album.  Listeners will probably be better off selecting their favorite  tracks and deleting the rest to create a more refined experience. Friday proved over the years that he has potential to make ambitious art, but instead he leap for the safe embrace of mediocrity in I Want Eat My Lay Tin .

Toe, one of Liberia’s popular Hip-Co Ambassadors, to produce music on corruption; and seeing the need to sensitize voters in the coming elections, we also contacted his team to produce “Whom to Vote For” in our colloquial that everyone will understand, because a
