Princess Fatu Gayflor Mighty Comeback

And just like that, Fatu Gayflor reclaimed her title as the “Golden Voice of Liberia,” making young Liberian artists reign seem a mere blip, with her new album “The Princess Dairy”, dropped on the 1st of November, 2013.  Fatu Gayflor is Fatu Gayflor. She once said to me, just say Fatu Gayflor and they will know who I am.  Fatu is simply a Liberian musical icon. In 1978, (Ma Gbassay, a dance instructor) from the Liberian National Cultural Troupe (a dance and music performance ensemble), on tour that year in search of new talent found Fatu, recruited her and took her to Kendeja.

Her first recording was dubbed as “the golden voice of Liberia.” With subsequent recordings, she was crowned by the Liberian National Cultural troupe as the “Princess” of Liberian folk songs. Hence, the title of her second album was simply “Princess Fatu Gayflor.”
 
With the National culture troupe, she performed at the World Cultural Festival in 1984 in Louisiana, United States of America. In 1993, she relocated to Nzerekore, Republic of Guinea, and commenced a similar musical project, working with a local band called the Nimba Jazz and became its lead female vocalist. In 1996, she was invited by Ambassador George Weah to return to the Ivory Coast, and joined Mr. Kekura Kamara and the Ballawala International. She and the group traveled to Milan, Italy to participate in the World Food Program festival and performed on the same stage with several other international artists, including Lucky Dube, Selief Kaita, Alpha Bloundy, amongst others. In 1997, her album Awoya ( Sorry) was recorded as a memorial to her infant child who was killed in the Liberian civil war. The Album was sponsored by Ambassador George Weah.

President George Weah's One Day National Forum Successfully Attended by 26 Political Parties

On Thursday, August 8, 2018, President George Weah had a sit down with 26 political parties of Liberia.  The meeting aimed at advancing ideals that promote the spirit of national unity and political tolerance between opposition political parties and the government.  ANC, LP and UP attended the meeting as a team. According to Deputy Minister Eugene L. Fahngon, Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs at Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs & Tourism, all 26 political parties attended and participated from start to finish.  Even though, social media was buzzing about AB Dillion walking out of the meeting, he walked out as an individual and not a political party, "the invitation was extended to political parties and not to individuals," Minister Fahngon stated in his live video.  Each political party gave ideals and recommendations, which made the meeting a great success.  According to  Deputy Minister Fahngon, "there will be future engagement...

Stephen Worjloh aka Big Steve Liberian music industry before the 90's was booming globally.  As the young entertainers struggles to get their industry back on track, after the war, remembering their musical history plays a big role.
