Jebor, Lone Star Break Record

Thousands of Liberians jubilated yesterday as Liberia international striker, William Jebor, who plies his trade in Spain with second division outfit; SD Ponferradina scored a hat trick to give Liberia Lone Star a 3-1 away victory in Guinea Bissau.
Jebor, who was the man of the match scored what is believed to be Liberian player’s first ever hat-trick as James Salinsa Debbah’s Lone Star broke a 14 year away record by beating Guinea Bissau 3-1 to secure a second round spot in the Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifier. 
The last time Liberia’s Lone Star won a competitive match away was September 14, 2001 when Africa football legend, George Weah came from the bench to score the only goal as Liberia beat Sierra Leone 1-0 in the 2002 World Cup qualifier. 
‘Iron Man’, as Jerbor is affectionately called, rattled the net against Guinea Bissau yesterday in the 8th, 12th and 90th minutes to make sure Liberia’s Lone Star meet Africa’s champions, Ivory Coast in the second round of the Russia 2018 qualifier. 
The dangerous striker was on target in the first leg in Monrovia which ended 1-1. According to the next schedule, Liberia’s Lone Star will now battle Ivory Coast between November 9-17, 2015 in a two legged qualifier. Liberia and Guinea Bissau settled to a 1-1 draw in the first leg last Thursday, October 8, 2015 in Monrovia with the red, white and blue now booking a place after a deserving 3-1 victory in Bissau yesterday. 
After the match, Liberians took on to the streets in Monrovia and around the country in jubilant mood with several Liberia’s Lone Star songs in several entertainment centers. As Liberians got the results of the much-anticipated march, the red, white and blue flag began to fly in every corner of Monrovia and its environs. “We have broken our nearly 14 years of record, Lone Star is adequately prepared to beat any team,” a jubilant fan said. 
The results of the march led to serious traffic jam in the city especially on Broad Street where drivers have to divert to other streets to find their way home. Meanwhile, the team is expected home today at midday probably in a charter flight from Ghana where the Lone Star made a stop last night.

President George Weah's One Day National Forum Successfully Attended by 26 Political Parties

On Thursday, August 8, 2018, President George Weah had a sit down with 26 political parties of Liberia.  The meeting aimed at advancing ideals that promote the spirit of national unity and political tolerance between opposition political parties and the government.  ANC, LP and UP attended the meeting as a team. According to Deputy Minister Eugene L. Fahngon, Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs at Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs & Tourism, all 26 political parties attended and participated from start to finish.  Even though, social media was buzzing about AB Dillion walking out of the meeting, he walked out as an individual and not a political party, "the invitation was extended to political parties and not to individuals," Minister Fahngon stated in his live video.  Each political party gave ideals and recommendations, which made the meeting a great success.  According to  Deputy Minister Fahngon, "there will be future engagement...
